ATTC Privacy Policy - Website
ATTC respects the privacy of visitors to our site.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully so that you understand our privacy
practices. These aim to measure up to the standards contained in the Privacy
(Amendment) Private Sector Act 2000.
Information Collected
The information collected by ATTC falls into two categories:
- Anonymous tracking information automatically generated as visitors navigate
through our site, and
- Personal information voluntarily supplied by visitors to our websites when
they register or initiate transactions.
Third party providers featured on or linked to by our websites, such as vendors
of products and services offered through our sites, may be gathering the same
kinds of information.
In this statement, we let you know all of the ways that we collect data on
our users, and how we use that data. If you have any questions or concerns,
please e-mail us at info@ace.edu.au.
Log Files
In almost all cases, when you go to a web site, web servers log your interaction
with the site in something called a log file. When you look at this web site,
our Internet Service Provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following
information for statistical purposes:
- Your IP server address (the IP address enables computers attached to the internet
to know where to send you data)
- Your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
- The date and time of your visit to the site
- The pages you accessed and documents downloaded
- The type of browser you are using.
We use this anonymous information to analyse trends and administer the site.
We make no effort to identify individual users by linking them with their computer's
IP addresses. In the unlikely event of an investigation, however, a law enforcement
agency or government agency may exercise its legal authority to inspect our
Internet Service Provider's logs.
Cookies
This web site only uses session cookies and only during a search query of
the web site. No cookies are employed on this web site except for those associated
with the search engine. The web site statistics for this site are generated
from the web logs as outlined above.
Upon closing your browser the session cookie set by this web site is destroyed
and no personal information is maintained which might identify you should you
visit our web site at a later date.
Cookies can be either 'persistent' or 'session-based'. Persistent cookies are
stored on your computer, contain an expiration date, and may be used to track
your browsing behaviour upon return to the issuing web site. Session cookies
are short lived, are only used during a browsing session, and expire when you
quit your browser.
Registration
To make use of certain features on our websites visitors may need to register
and to provide certain information as part of the registration process.
Use and Disclosure of Information Collected
When ATTC collects information from you, in any format, that personally identifies
you, the purposes for which the information is collected will be given. This
data will be kept confidential: it may be given to different units within ATTC
for processing and use, under a duty of confidentiality to ATTC. This data will
not be given to third parties outside ATTC unless otherwise stated or with your
permission. You may also request access to and correction of your personal data
held by ATTC by contacting info@ace.edu.au.
ATTC may wish to use the information you provide to market particular products
or services. ATTC will only market products or services to you if you have agreed
to opt for such information to be sent to you.
Links
This web site contains links to other sites, and provides access to products
and services offered by third parties. When you access another website or purchase
products through our websites, use of any information you provide is governed
by the privacy policy of the operator of the site you're visiting or the provider
of such products or services. Please be aware that ATTC is not responsible for
the privacy practices of such other sites, which may differ from our own. We
encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy
statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable
information. If you can't find the privacy policy of any of our provider partners
via a link either from the site's homepage or from the pages on which the products
or services are offered, you should contact the provider directly for more information.
This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this site.
When we present information to our advertisers - to help them understand our
audience and confirm the value of advertising on our websites - it is in the
form of anonymous and aggregated statistics on traffic to various pages within
our sites.
Surveys
From time to time, our site requests information from users via surveys. Participation
in these surveys is completely voluntary. Information requested may include
contact information (such as name and address), demographic information (such
as income, age level), and more subjective questions about how you use our site.
With surveys, the information that you give be anonymous and aggregated to allow
us to monitor and improve the use and satisfaction of the site. We may also
share this aggregated information - again, not personal information that identifies
you - with our partners, advertisers and other relevant parties.
Security
ATTC servers are secure and measures are taken to prevent unauthorised access
to any of our equipment or data. We will only record your email address if you
send us a message. Your email address will only be used for the purpose for
which you have provided it and it will not be added to a mailing list or used
for any other purpose without your consent.
A final note
The Web is an evolving medium. If we need to change our privacy policy at some
point in the future, we'll post the changes before they take effect. By visiting
any of our sites, you agree that your visit, and any dispute over our privacy
practices, is governed by this Privacy Policy.
